Teaching Your Child First Aid Kit Preparation

First aid provision for children is said to be the easiest to prepare but also one of the most challenging. Teaching your child First Aid Kit preparation.

These contrasting views are brought about by two facts. Children, for the most part, do not yet experience severe medical conditions as adult individuals do. But rescuing could be difficult especially when a child experiences an infection-related emergency since these small people are still susceptible to microbial-caused diseases which is also due to immunity weaknesses. Preparing and providing a child first aid kit is one crucial thing to do. Here are tips on child first aid and how to prepare a child first aid kit.

When preparing a child first aid kit, make sure your kids are around to observe. Orient them of the things to include in the kit and familiarize them on the proper place to store the first aid kit.

Make it a point that the child’s first aid kit is accessible. Teach the kids to always remember to bring first aid kits during vacations, picnics, and summer camps. Remind them about the storage of first aid kits; one inside the house and one in the car.

Child first aid kits can be purchased in department stores, drug stores and emergency institutions such as the American Red Cross.

You may also find retailers of child first aid kits on the internet. However, you can prepare your own child first aid kit at home, just remember these important reminders. First, choose a bag or container that is roomy but light, easy to carry and strong. Plastic is a great material to choose because of its lightweight.

Make a checklist of the must-have items and supplies to be included in your children’s first aid kit.

Here are the list of supplies and tools: blanket, preferably a space blanket, list or small notebook containing all important emergency contact numbers, a mouthpiece used for giving CPR, this can be bought from your Red Cross Chapter, flashlight or torch with extra batteries, two pairs of plastic or latex gloves, thermometer, cotton swabs, ethyl alcohol, sanitary wipes, calamine lotion, cold packs, safety pins, scissors with safety container, tweezers, prescription drugs, ibuprofen, acetaminophen, hydrocortisone cream, anti-itch cream, soap, anti biotic cream, bandage, gauze and children first aid manual.

Children could be very playful sometimes and they might use their kiddy first aid kits for playing. Tell them to be responsible with the kits and to use them only when needed. Teaching the importance of child first aid at this early age is vital for your children.

The Emergency Paediatric First Aid Course and First Aid Essentials cover the majority of the injuries, incidents, and must-haves for your child’s first aid kit and know-how.
