The Combined First Aid At Work and Paediatric First Aid Course are very in depth and will give you a thorough grounding an knowledge when it comes to knowing what to do in an Emergency situation, during the course you will have a lot of hands on time dealing with scenarios and incidents to make sure your skills are at the highest level.
What You Will Learn In First Aid At Work
- Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider.
- Be able to assess an incident.
- Be able to provide first aid to an unresponsive casualty.
- Be able to provide first aid to a casualty who is choking.
- Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with external bleeding.
- Know how to provide first aid to a casualty who is in shock.
- Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with minor injuries.
- Be able to conduct a secondary survey.
- Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected injuries to bones, muscles and joints.
- Be able to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries.
- Know how to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected chest injuries.

What You Will Learn In Paediatric First Aid
- Understand the role and responsibilities of the Paediatric First Aider.
- Be able to assess an emergency situation safely.
- Be able to provide First Aid for an infant and a child who is unresponsive.
- Be able to provide First Aid for an infant and a child who is choking.
- Be able to provide First Aid to an infant and a child with external bleeding.
- Know how to provide First Aid to an infant or a child who is suffering from shock.
- Know how to provide First Aid to an infant or a child with bites, stings and minor injuries.
- CPR: must demonstrate correct placement of AED pads on a child manikin and identify where
to place AED pads on an infant manikin. - Demonstrate ‘following AED instructions’.
- Recovery Position: a position that maintains a stable open draining airway.
- Provide appropriate help for an infant (baby) or a child.
- Manage the situation and seek appropriate assistance when necessary.
- Be aware of seizures.
See symptoms of Hypovolaemic shock. - Deal with human and animal bites.
- Deal with bee and wasp stings.
The Assessments for Combined First Aid
Within the Combined First Aid At Work and Paediatric First Aid Course, you will complete 11 practical assessments and 3 written question papers.
- Dealing with an unresponsive casualty and safe use of an AED.
- Dealing with an unresponsive child.
- Dealing with an unresponsive infant.
- Dealing with an unconscious casualty that is breathing normally.
- Dealing with a choking casualty.
- Dealing with wounds and bleeding.
- Dealing with a catastrophic bleed.
- Dealing with anaphalaxis.
- Dealing with fractures and breaks.
- Dealing with head and spinal injuries.
- Conducting a secondary survey.
Don’t panic, although this is an intensive course with a lot of information and assessments, with our training techniques you will be more than confident when it comes to the practical and the written assessments.
