Dog First Aid Kit
Since there’s actually no telling as to when accidents can happen, it’s always good to be ready for emergencies –even your dog’s emergencies. It’s very common for owners to bring their dogs along when heading outdoors. Just when they think everything’s fine, the dog suddenly turns up injured. If you have a Bruno or a Sassy, whether in the home or taking them outdoors, you must also have a dog first aid kit.
Remember, while human first aid kit may be use for some dog emergencies, they’re never sufficient in most cases. So, have a separate and well-stocked dog first aid kit for your pup. Dog owners will be able to treat minor injuries of their dogs if they have the right tools, equipment, and remedies available. The following supplies must be included in the dog first aid kit:
Gauze sponges; rubbing alcohol; triple antibiotic ointment; ear syringe; white petroleum jelly; eyewash; non-adherent and sterile pads; generic Benadryl capsules; Pepto Bismol tablets; sterile stretch gauze bandage; Dermicil hypoallergenic cloth tape; hydrocortisone acetate; buffered aspirin; Kaopectate tablets; hydrogen peroxide; custom splints; bandage scissors; and Vet Rap bandage.
You may also want to include a blanket, muzzle, tweezers, ziplock bags, rectal thermometer, and the dog’s health record. Never underestimate the value of well-stocked dog first aid kit –think about the relief it can be knowing that the items on your kit helped save your dogs life after a fall injury or snakebite. Also, be sure that these items are well arranged and placed in a handy and durable box for easy access –the last thing you’ll need during your dog’s emergency is scrambling through the bag for first aid supplies.
You can ask your dog’s veterinarian for some other useful items that you can add to your dog first aid kit. Make sure that you keep one kit at home and another in the car, as it would be inconvenient to keep on taking out the home kit whenever you go outdoors, plus there’s more possibility of forgetting it. Moreover, make sure that items inside your dog first aid kit, especially the medicines, are regularly checked for expiration. Expired medications can add risks to an already stressed situation.
Dog first aid kit is a must for dog owners in order to provide a much safer and happier environment for your dogs. The easy accessibility of these kits will help you provide the needed treatment on time.
