First Aid Training In South Shields

First Aid Training in South Shields

Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work – 13th April 2026

During the Easter school holidays, we delivered a Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course at our South Shields training centre on Monday 13th April 2026.

Although it was holiday time, we still welcomed a strong group of learners — including several returning faces who had trained with us before and chosen to refresh or renew their qualification.

It was another reminder that first aid is not seasonal. Emergencies do not pause for school holidays.

Real-Life Motivation to Learn

This particular course carried added meaning for several learners.

One attendee had recently performed CPR on a family member. She came to the course wanting reassurance — had she done it correctly? Was there anything she could improve? Through updated guidance and hands-on practice, she was able to confirm that her actions had been appropriate and effective.

Another learner had assisted just the previous day when someone collapsed in the street. He had carried out CPR before paramedics arrived and wanted to refine his technique further. That experience gave the group powerful insight into how quickly real situations can unfold.

When learners arrive with genuine, recent experience, training becomes more than a qualification — it becomes reflection, reinforcement and confidence-building.

Inclusive, Supportive Training for All Learners

We were also proud to support a learner with autism on this course, who completed all elements of the qualification to the required standard.

Creating a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment is important to us. By balancing theory with practical repetition and clear instruction, we ensure every learner has the opportunity to succeed.

Updated Resuscitation Guidance Included

This course incorporated the most recent updates to Resuscitation Council UK guidelines, ensuring learners were trained in line with the latest evidence-based recommendations.

Content covered included:

  • Roles and responsibilities of an emergency first aider
  • Assessing an incident and ensuring scene safety
  • Recognising life-threatening conditions
  • Adult CPR in line with updated guidance
  • Safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Management of the unconscious casualty
  • Choking emergencies
  • External bleeding, wounds and shock

Practical assessments were completed throughout the day, with learners demonstrating competence in CPR, AED use and casualty care before successfully achieving their qualification.

A Course That Balances Serious Content with Positive Energy

First aid training covers serious subject matter, but delivery makes all the difference. This session combined:

  • Clear, structured explanations
  • Practical demonstrations
  • Repeated hands-on practice
  • Open discussion
  • A positive and energetic atmosphere

The result was a course that felt focused yet relaxed, serious yet enjoyable.

Learner Feedback

Feedback from the day reflected the balance between clarity, engagement and confidence-building:

“It was a really informative and interesting course delivered with energy and enthusiasm. I felt like I learnt a lot. Thank you.”Alix

“The pace was very good and I felt that through a combination of practical and theoretical training I was able to retain a lot.”Mia

“Very informative and easy to understand.”Harry

“Great course, good laugh and great tutoring.”Ben

“I would definitely recommend First Aid and Safety Training. Adam is really good at delivering presentations. The staff are lovely and helpful.”Phil

All learners successfully completed the qualification and left with greater reassurance, stronger practical skills and improved confidence to act in a real emergency.
